Volunteering
Volunteers Wanted!
There are so many ways you can get involved. See suggestions below. Please contact your Team Manager or Divisional Coordinators for more ideas or if you have any questions.
There are lots of roles to be filled at an association level. We will usually advertise when spots need to be filled, but we are always interested in hearing from parents who can support us at this level. Expertise in organizational management, fundraising and advancement, finances and accounting, law and risk management, hockey coaching and player development, programming and education, marketing and sales, website and communications and more are always appreciated. If you would like to find out more, please contact the NSFIHA President for more detail.
"Hands down" the most important role on a team. Check out an overview of the role and expectations here. Let your Divisional Coordinator know if you are interested.
We are always looking for coaches! Please check out the expectations, qualifications and application process posted here. Speak to your Team Manager or the NSFIHA Coaching Coordinator for more information.
This is an important first aid and safety role required on all teams at the start of the year. Please check out the duties and expectations posted here. Speak to your Team Manager or the Safety and Risk Coordinator for more information.
Help your team organize team parties and get-togethers. Let your Team Manager know you want to help!
At home games, your team will need someone to volunteer to run the clock and the scoreboard and complete score sheets. Please check in with your Team Manager or Divisional Coordinator to volunteer. Details on how to use home rink clocks and scoreboards posted here.
There are a number of small tasks that we are looking for people to assist with during rep tryouts. Ideally it would be great to have one person per age division (atom, peewee, bantam, midget) to take on each one of the following:
- Pre-event Jersey setup
- Registration (day one only)
- Volunteer coordinators for:
- Coaches
- Timekeepers
Contact your Divisional Coordinator to see how you can help!
We are always looking to share more of the amazing stories that all of our teams generate over the season. If you have stories and photos or clips to share, please pass along to media@northshoregirlshockey.com so we can post and pay tribute our girls and teams!
To help keep things moving quickly and make sure everyone gets their picture forms filled out, we need volunteers to help organize the photo. Please contact your Team Manager or Divisional Coordinator to find out more.
We need people to manage team budgets and finances. Please contact your Team Manager or Divisional Coordinator to find out more.
Every year we host fundraisers to support the association. Please contact your Team Manager or Divisional Coordinator to find out how you can help.
Can you help out coaches on the ice for practices or more. Please contact your Team Manager or Divisional Coordinator to find out more. You will need to complete your Respect in Sport course (RIS) to do this.
Respect in Sport is an online training course designed as a tool to assist coaches and team staff in identifying and dealing with abuse, neglect, harassment and bullying in sport.
All NSFIHA team officials (coaches, managers, HCSP safety persons and on-ice helpers) must complete the RIS online course. Please click here to complete the program. RIS certification expires after 4 years.
For more information, and to access the RIS online course, please visit the BC Hockey website here.
From time to time, we have parents who have a passion and see an opportunity to combine that with a positive impact on our membership that we have not identified. We would love to hear your ideas and discuss the opportunity. Please contact your Divisional Coordinator or others on the NSFIHA Board to share you ideas.
