The U7 (formerly Tyke) level is for girls who are 5 or 6 year's old (Grades K-1). This program introduces basic hockey skill development and coordination, and seeks to build a love for the game. Players do not have to know how to skate to sign up. The program focuses on:

• Skating forward and backward
• Stopping, starting, turning
• Puck handling
• Basic hockey rules
• Building friendships and learning teamwork skills
• Recreational fun games
• Benefits of Avalanche Hockey

The season begins in September and ends in early March. U7s will usually have 1-2 practices per week with games beginning later in the season. Home games are played on the North Shore and away games are within the lower mainland.
