Return to Hockey & Facilities

We have been meeting frequently with Canlan, NorthVanRec and West Vancouver to plan the return to hockey.  All facilities are open or plan on opening for September and we are looking forward to releasing more details about Avalanche ice schedules soon.

Safety Plan

With the gathering of information from our facilities, we will soon be able to publish our safety plan.  We will hold a town hall at the end of August to answer your questions about the return to hockey.

Evaluations

Registration opened for evaluations in July. Sign up here if you haven’t already: https://www.northshoregirlshockey.com/evaluations/. As with other seasons, we will use evaluations to form/tier not only our rep teams but also our developmental C teams.  If you choose not to register and attend the evaluation sessions, you will be placed on the lowest C team.  Evaluations will follow facility and health authority Covid-19 protocols.

Rep Coaches

We are writing to let everyone know that our coaches for next season’s U15 “A” and U18 “A” team have been confirmed.   As most families are aware, it is our preference to find non-parent coaches for our A teams.

U15 (Bantam) A

Lucas Giles will be returning to the Avalanche for next season and will be taking on the head-coaching role for the Bantam A team.  Last season, Lucas coached the Peewee A team to a strong season.  Lucas has also taken on a role with Advantage Hockey.

U18 (Midget) A

We are looking forward to welcoming Tyler Drake to our coaching ranks.  If Tyler’s name sounds familiar, he has instructed at numerous Canlan Camps over the years and has coached for several years with North Vancouver Minor.  His educational background is in the fitness and health industries.  Tyler is extremely excited to move into the Avalanche Association and to help make an impact and contribute to the development of our young athletes.

U13 (Peewee) A

We are in the process of reviewing applicants for the head coaching position for the U13 team.  We hope to have a coach in place soon.
