Hello Avalanche Families:

 

The days are a little shorter and the evenings a little cooler.  It must mean that hockey is close.  Season planning has been atypical, but we want to give you an update on where we stand.

A focus on safety is our top priority.  You can find the Avalanche return to hockey plan on our website at www.northshoregirlshockey.com/covid-19-updates  Arena operations have been delayed by COVID-19 and this has pushed back ice contracts.  We are still waiting for a schedule and ice contract from North Van Rec and, as a result, we are not able to provide an evaluation or season schedule just yet. Things are progressing forward and we do know there will be a bit of new look to ice times this season as a result of changes at the facilities and COVID-19 restrictions on the number of participants on the ice.  We know everyone is anxiously awaiting the ice schedules and we will get them out as soon as we can possibly can. We expect that evaluations will start for U13, U15 and U18 during the week of September 8th. U11 will follow during the weeks after September 15th. We may have slight delays this season in working through the evaluation process due to the delayed opening of West Van Arena and Karen Magnusson until later in September.

The type of hockey activities that may occur when hockey returns have been determined by BC Hockey / the PCAHA, in consultation with ViaSport and the appropriate public health authorities.  In its recent Return-to-Play document, the PCAHA has indicated that subject to ViaSport clearance, development will be the focus from Labour Day to Thanksgiving.  ViaSport did progress forward to Phase 3 yesterday; we are still waiting for more information from the PCAHA and BC Hockey about what this will mean for the season.

Please be reminded that the deadline for a full refund (less admin fees) is before Tuesday September 1st. The Avalanche extended its refund policies this season to reflect the unique circumstances.  Please advise the Registrar if you would like to withdraw: registrar@northshoregirlshockey.com.

We are working hard for a safe and timely return to Avalanche hockey. Please note that Registration is now open for Avalanche Prep Camps at Canlan North Shore.  Canlan is running camps for Atom (U11) to Midget (U18) on our behalf from August 31st to September 4th.  Space is limited due to Covid protocols so sign up asap.  See the Canlan link for details here www.icesports.com/northshore
